For desktop, the Facebook page cover is commonly prepared at a ratio close to 851 × 315 pixels (roughly 2.7:1). The surprising part is how differently the same cover displays on mobile: Facebook crops the tall cover down to a smaller central area on phones, so text placed near the far left or right edge of the desktop frame simply disappears on mobile. Design for the mobile crop first, then check the desktop view.

The profile picture overlaps the bottom-left of the cover on desktop, and call-to-action buttons sit near the bottom-right. Keep faces, text, and logos in the central horizontal band — commonly the inner 820 × 360 safe area — so nothing critical hides behind the avatar or buttons.
